Lemon Honey Ginger Water
Why This Works
Gingerols in fresh ginger have been shown to support digestive function and may help ease occasional nausea and bloating.
Vitamin C from lemon is a well-known antioxidant that supports immune function and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
Raw honey contains natural enzymes and antioxidants that may support throat comfort and provide a gentle energy boost without refined sugar.
Ingredients
-
Fresh Ginger — 3-5 thin slices (~5g)
-
Lemon — 1, juiced
-
Raw Honey — 1-2 teaspoons
-
Warm Water — 1 cup (~240ml)
Instructions
Prepare the Ginger
Wash fresh ginger and cut into thin slices. The thinner the slices, the more easily the beneficial compounds are released.
Steep the Ginger
Place ginger slices in a cup and pour freshly boiled hot water over them. Let steep for about 10 minutes to allow the ginger's active compounds to fully infuse.
Add Lemon Juice
Once the water has cooled to warm (no more than 40°C/104°F), squeeze in fresh lemon juice and stir well.
Stir in Honey
Add 1-2 teaspoons of raw organic honey according to taste. Stir until completely dissolved, and enjoy.
Tips & Notes
- Use water no hotter than 40°C/104°F when adding lemon and honey to preserve their heat-sensitive nutrients.
- For a stronger ginger flavor, lightly crush the slices before steeping.
- Best enjoyed in the morning on an empty stomach or between meals.
- You can add a pinch of turmeric for additional antioxidant support.
